Strategy Summit
Event connecting over 200 speakers and panelists to discuss current and future global scenarios of Supply Chain Management and Logistics.

Dubai, March 27th 2010: The Supply Chain & Logistics Group (SCLG), Dubai will be holding its 3rd Global Logistics and SCM summit on 12 May 2010 at the Madinat Jumeira.

Over 200 speakers and panelists from around the globe will gather under one roof to discuss the current and future global scenarios of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The summit will focus on 8 tracks: - Policy and Infrastructure, Transportation and Logistics, Sourcing and Global Sourcing, Finance and Liabilities, Technology and Best Practices, Research and Education, Warehousing and Material Handling and Retail SCM.

“Global economy is stabilizing. Past months have eroded commercial values in many organizations around the globe-- some verticals suffered more and others less but the shrinking global economy had its toll around the globe in all industry segments. Many organizations attempted to aim at quick adjusting of their supply chains and logistics delivery mechanism. Those who quickly responded in getting their supply chains aligned in view of challenges posed by the economy showed better results than others. Economic outlook in many countries improved this year as many government authorities globally announced stimulus packages. Year 2010 has begun with a new hope for a better tomorrow,” said Dr. Madrecha, Regional Development Committee, SCLG.

“Through these summits, SCLG helps to build strategies in individual companies, support the government in policy formation, facilitate industry growth, with an aim to weather the global challenges and arrive at strategies to tackle the challenges that the industry is currently facing,” added Dr. Madrecha.

The 3rd Global SCM/Logistics strategy summit is an opportunity for showcasing products and solutions. It will serve as a platform to communicate, connect and collaborate in a fast paced economic landscape. It will also feature 32 panel discussions/presentations under the guidance of 16 world class professionals that include – Dr. Dermot Carey, Mr. Patrick Daly, Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes, Mr. André Verdier, Dr. Ganesh Natrajan and Mr. Tim Sensenig. Speakers, panelists and delegates are expected from China, India, GCC, Russia, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and USA.

“This region has witnessed a growing focus on education and research in the SCM/Logistics domain - this is indeed a great trend but there is a need for a standardized research format, closer academic and industry ties and active participation of the industry in academic activities. Leading logistics organizations have reported better results in this region than they expected. Amidst the credit crisis, many strategic tools like outsourcing and global sourcing gained more importance in context of restructuring organizations. While inventory optimization was being reviewed, global transportation and local warehousing gained attention as well. Suppliers of material handling equipment and storage solutions (both hardware and software) play an important role in making logistics efficient and profitable,” added Dr. Madrecha.

‘’Technology always helps in gaining a competitive edge. Contrary to the present trend where many leading organizations are reducing technology budgets, the SCLG believes that this is the time to bring more focus on best business process and technology solutions in order to build a platform for the upcoming bullish economy,” concluded  Dr. Madrecha.
